Exciting things are happening with My Digital Studio

Do you know what My Digital Studio is?  Have you seen the countless things you can make with this genius software? And you dont even have to be that computer savvy.  The program does most of the work for you.  I do alot of my designing in MDS.  I just love the versatility of it.  You can design cards in MDS, then print them and add additional bling to them just like you would any other card.  THis is what people call a hybrid.  Check out my blog to see a recent hybrid card I did with MDS for a baby shower.  SUPER CUTE!!

Project: Hybrid Baby Shower Card

This is a baby shower card that I made.  It is a hybrid card. A hybrid card is one that is printed on MDS and then you add additional 3D embellishments to it after printing it.

I used the festive blooms and recolored them in black and white respectively as shown in the picture.

I used First Edition DSP in the background.

I used a vintage frame around the edge and in center of the card.

I then added a square punch colored black with text in white with a drop shadow.

After printing the card I added photo corners in black to the four corners of the card.  I then added rhinestone embellishments to each of the corners on the card and the corners on the baby square in the center of the card.

I love doing stuff in black in white.  I hope you enjoy!

Ode To Fluffball

Our beloved fluffball graced us with her presence as long as her little fluffy body would endure.  She has gone to take her place alongside my grandmother. May they glitz up the stars for us evermore....

Project: the talking wreath

This is a wreath that I made from pages from abook.

Project needs:
Pages from book
Hot glue gun
Wreath form

What you do is cut pages from a book and fold them into a spiral cone.

Then glue each individual paper cone to the wreathe shape.

You can do as many layers as you like until you get the three dimensional look you like.

You can add additional embellishments to your wreath to personalize it.

Project: Princess Invitation

Here is the invitation design I finally decided on for my daughters upcoming 6th birthday party.

I designed it in MDS2 using the A Royal Day template for a postcard.

I printed it out and then added an embellishment.

The embellishment is a printed R that is punched out with the smallest circle punch and then added crystal effects to give it a 3-D aspect.  I then glued this little gem onto the center of the crown on the invitation.

Project: A Word about Pumpkins

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love the weather, the festivals, and everything pumpkin.  In the spirit of one of my favorite times of year I made this pumpkin.

Supplies Needed:
Hardcover book
cardstock
utility knife
Hot glue gun/glue stick

1- Take a hardcover book and remove the cover.
2- Take a piece of card stock and make a template of half of a pumpkin
3- Use the template to trace the shape on the pages.
4- Use the utility knife to cut the pages in the shape of the template.  It probably will be helpful to do a few pages at a time.
5- once all the pages are cut in the shape of the template, take the ends of the books (front and back cover) and pull them together to make a 3-D shape.
6- Put the stick in the middle of the book where the spine is located to serve as the stem.
7- Glue the front and back cover together using the hot glue gun.

8- as an added thing you can use orange spray paint to make the pumpkin even more realistic.

Project: Tom the Turkey

This little guy was so much fun to create.

Supplies Needed:
Glue dots/snail
card stock of two shades of brown, small bit of white, red, and yellow
Scissors
Simply Scored
Hot glue gun (and glue)
And the new nifty silicone pad

I used 12x12 card stock and cut strips out of two different color born card stock.  You could also use other fall colors that would be fun.

Cut the following strips and score at 1/2 inch:
 4- 2.5 inches wide
2- 2.25 inches wide
2- 2 inches wide
2 - 1.75 inches wide
2- 1.5 inches wide

1- 1 inch wide

I used alternating colors for each size.

Make sure to score each one at 1/2 inch.  And then fold alternating directions to get the accordion look.

Each size  (except for the 2.5 which will make 2) will make one rosette by using glue dots or snail to adhere the 2 strips together.

To make a rosette:  Take two strips of same size that have been folded accordion style and adhere end together so they make a circle.

To get into a rosette, you will push down one side into the center until the center comes together and it forms a circle.  (see pic below)

While holding this in place, use hot glue on the center (where paper comes together).  use a generous portion so that the roster will stay in place.  Hold this here for a minute until the glue starts to dry.

Repeat the rosette step until you have 7 rosettes.  The 1 inch will be used for the head.

Lay them down and glue them in order of size (large to small) on top of one another..

Cut strips of paper to create feathers.  Cut the ends into points to create feather look.

Cut a circle.  use this circle to adhere the feathers strips to in a fanned out fashion.

Adhere to back of rosette stack.

Cut a drip of paper to make neck.  adhere a popsicle stick to back to give the neck some substance to support the head.

Adhere 1 inch rosetter to top of neck.

Then you can do the face however you want.  I used whisper white cart stock to cut out some small oval eyes.  The used a basic black pen to draw eyeballs on white.

next I cut a beak out of yellow card stock.

finally cut the wormy looking thing for the turkey's face.

adhere the wormy thing to the beak.  and adhere beach and eyes to rosette face.

Adhere neck to the body of the turkey.

Finally I took a 2 inch strip of card stock and made a base/stand for Tom the Turkey.
I cut some cute legs from the lighter brown color and adhered to the front of the stand.

Voilla.....Tom is ready for Thanksgiving....

Have fun!!
